EnvisionWare Names New CEO, COO
By David Rapp Sep 28, 2011Duluth, GA-based library equipment and software company EnvisionWare announced this week that it has named its VP and cofounder Michael Monk as its new CEO and chairman. Executive director Scott Fothergill has been named chief operating officer.
Former EnvisionWare president Rob Walsh has left the company, and is now CEO of independent tech consultancy Excalibur Solutions, which will continue to work under a long-term agreement with EnvisionWare on software development.
Monk told LJ that EnvisionWare's primary focus in the wake of the changes is accelerating development, particularly on its existing PC reservation system and on future radio-frequency identification (RFID)-oriented equipment.
Last month, EnvisionWare and 3M confidentially settled a long-running patent lawsuit. 3M had sued EnvisionWare in 2009 over allegations that EnvisionWare's sale of self-service circulation systems and handheld RFID devices had infringed upon three 3M patents.
Shortly after the settlement was announced, Monk told LJ that the case would not affect EnvisionWare's products. "EnvisionWare continued to provide both our existing and new hardware and software solutions throughout litigation, and we will continue to do so now that the controversy with 3M is concluded," he said.
