APA/AAP To Host AudiobookStage at BEA
Presentations and live performances with noted authors, actors, and narrators

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) is bringing a fresh facet to its “Get Caught Listening” campaign by partnering with the American Association of Publishers (APA) to present six 30-minute presentations and stage performances by noted authors, actors, and audiobook narrators at Book Expo America (BEA) in New York this May.
The live sessions—to take place at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. on both Wednesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 27—are designed to give audiences an intimate glimpse into the audiobook production process as well as to "enlighten booksellers and librarians on the vital and valuable role of the spoken word as a complement to the written word,” says APA president Janet Benson.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 26
10 a.m.
Nelson DeMille & Scott Brick
DeMille and Brick will discuss author and narrator interaction during both the writing and audiobook recording processes. (Presented by Hachette Audio.)
12 p.m.
Jennifer Egan
Novelist Egan will discuss her experiences with audio and what it’s like to work with different narrators to bring a story to life. (Presented by BBC Audiobooks America.)
2 p.m.
Galaxy Press Radio Drama Group
A cast including Bruce Boxleitner, Martin Kove, and Josh Thompson will perform the humorous short story “Reign of the Gila Monster,” one of Galaxy Press’s L. Ron Hubbard classics, as a “radio theater” drama.
THURSDAY, MAY 27
10 a.m.
Katherine Kellgren
Kellgren is a rising star in audio, garnering four Audie Awards for bringing L.A. Meyer’s "Bloody Jack" YA series to life. (Presented by Listen & Live Audio.)
12 p.m.
David Pogue
Pogue is known as a New York Times technology columnist, CBS correspondent, and author of technology-oriented manuals but now has a children’s book called Abby Carnelia’s One and Only Magical Power debuting in April. (Presented by Brilliance Audio.)
2 p.m.
Everette Plen
Plen is the 11-year-old narrator of the Lenore Look series Alvin Ho books 1 & 2. He is also a star of the Disney Channel’s Really Short Report. (Presented by Random Audio.)
