Dec 15, 2011Mary Boone, State Librarian of North Carolina since 2005, has announced her retirement effective January 1, 2012. She previously was Foreign Service Library and Information Resource Officer, U.S. Department of State.
Donna Bourne-Tyson is the new University Librarian, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS. She comes from Mount Saint Vincent University, also located in Halifax, where she was University Librarian since 2005. She replaces the retiring Bill Maes .
Rita Hamilton has been named City Librarian, Phoenix Public Library (PPL). Director of Scottsdale Public Library, AZ, since 2002, Hamilton replaces the retiring Toni Garvey, City Librarian since 1996 and the 2004 Library Journal Librarian of the Year. PPL also has appointed two new Deputy Directors: Lupita Barron-Rios for Public Services, who was most recently Manager of Adult Services at Burton Barr Central Library, and Karl Kendall for Systemwide Services, who has served as Branch Manager at PPL’s Century, Chavez, and Agave branches.
Golam Kibreah has been promoted to Public Services Manager, Hancock County Public Library (HCPL), Greenfield, IN. He previously was Adult Services Department Head, HCPL.
Tiffany McClary has been named Director of Marketing and Public Relations, New Jersey State Library. She previously was Corporate Communications Manager, Dow Jones Factiva. She replaces Nancy Dowd , who is now Project Lead, LibraryAware at NoveList, EBSCO Publishing.
Carolyn Thomas is the new Director of Library Services, Sierra Madre Public Library, CA, succeeding Toni Buckner, who retired.
