The Joint Steering Committee for the Development of the Resource Description and Access(RDA) cataloging code has updated its presentations page to include sessions from the Georgia Cataloging Summit held in Helen, GA, August 9-10.

The three U.S. national libraries --- the Library of Congress (LC), the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) --- announced on June 13 that they will adopt, with certain conditions, the RDA code. Full implementation will not occur before January 1, 2013.

The 20 new presentations by Barbara Tillett and Judy Kuhagen of the policy and standards division of the Library of Congress cover the following:

"FRBR: Things You Should Know, But Were Afraid to Ask" [PPT]
"Looking to the future with RDA" [PPT]
"Module 1: Background and Structure of RDA" [PPT]
"Module 2: Identifying Manifestations Part 1 (Chapter 2)" [PPT]
"Module 2: Identifying Manifestations Part 2 (Chapters 3,4,6, & 7)" [PPT]
"Module 3: Identifying Works and Expressions" [PPT]
"Module 4: Persons, Families and Corporate Bodies" [PPT]
"Module 5: Relationships" [PPT]
"Module 6: Preparing for RDA" [PPT]
"Module 7: Top Twelve" [PPT]
"Where is it in RDA" [WORD]
"LC Core Elements" [WORD]
"Checklist: Creating RDA records" [WORD]
"Webliography" [WORD]
"LC reference staff briefing" [WORD]
"RDA bibliographic examples" [WORD]
"RDA authority examples" [PPT]
"Georgia Exercise Information" [WORD]

The JSC presentations page includes numerous other links to recent conference sessions dealing with RDA, such as the Special Libraries Association "RDA Overview" session held in Philadelphia on June 14 and the North American Serials Interest Group preconference held in St. Louis, MO, on June 1.

The Georgia Public Library Service, a unit of the University System of Georgia, is also planning to post the Georgia sessions on its site as well, according to Elaine Hardy, the PINES bibliographic projects and metadata manager.
